Match Report – 2nd Grade Round 13
Another week closer to the finals and a chance to test ourselves against another potential opponent in Wests. We started with good intent and played with plenty of physicality and discipline at the breakdown that led to a try to Jayden Peckett in his second-grade debut.

Thank goodness the game’s played in halves, because the second stanza saw a reversal of fortunes, sparked primarily by Harry Quinlan getting across for a five pointer in the opening stages.

In what was a big home game for Royals as a club, with club stalwart Mark “Doogie” Young playing his 500th senior match for the club in 4th grade, 3rd grade came in really needing a win after two losses in the last two matches.

Despite gifting the Owls the significant portion of possession and Territory, the Royals defensive performance for the most part held up well, with only an occasional lapse in judgement allowing their opposition to cross the chalk.
