“I have been lucky enough to have been exposed to a number of Women’s programs in Canberra as Head Coach of Wests Women,
Another week closer to the finals and a chance to test ourselves against another potential opponent in Wests. We started with good intent and played with plenty of physicality and discipline at the breakdown that led to a try to Jayden Peckett in his second-grade debut.
Thank goodness the game’s played in halves, because the second stanza saw a reversal of fortunes, sparked primarily by Harry Quinlan getting across for a five pointer in the opening stages.
In what was a big home game for Royals as a club, with club stalwart Mark “Doogie” Young playing his 500th senior match for the club in 4th grade, 3rd grade came in really needing a win after two losses in the last two matches.
88-0… what a score line for the Women’s 1st Grade team. To make this feeling even better, the girls will sit on top of the ladder as of the end of round 12.
Despite gifting the Owls the significant portion of possession and Territory, the Royals defensive performance for the most part held up well, with only an occasional lapse in judgement allowing their opposition to cross the chalk.
A third meeting with Uni for the year and a chance for second grade to get back in the winners circle on a lovely day for rugby.
Thirsty Thirds made their way across to the north side to face a Uni side looking to get some revenge from a close Royals victory a few weeks ago.
Again – the whole team should be proud of the never say die attitude they’re bringing to the field. When mistakes are made, you keep turning up for each other.
